The world of work is rapidly changing and the skills and competencies that students need to be cultivating is changing too. Todd Harrison,  of Future Design School will inspire RCCDSB students by exposing students to the key changes taking place in the workplace and how they can align their passions, interests, and curiosities to understand more.

Students pick one presentation from the following Four:

A1: Google STEM-Science, Technology Engineering, Math 

  • Have you ever wondered what it takes to work at Google? Believe it or not, there are hundreds of different ways to get there. In this session you will learn more about some pathways that resulted in jobs as Google Software Developers and you will also have a chance to do some hands-on coding for yourself!

B1: OCTE-Ontario Council for Technology Education

  • Learn more about SHSM and OYAP programs to promote the skilled trades waiting for you in High School!

C1: Future Design School

  • Learn how Artifical Intelligence and machine learning is changing the world of work everywhere!

D1: Dennis Ryan-Alterna Savings Credit Union

  • Ever wonder how to manage your personal money? What about if you started your own business? Learn valuable financial literacy skills that will help you now and in the future

11:20 - 11: 50 am

Break Out Session #2

Students pick one presentation from the following four:

A2: CNL - Canadian Nuclear Laboratories

  • Are you interested in a career in STEM? Learn about all of the amazing career opportunities at our very own nuclear lab facilities in Chalk River, Ontario.

B2: OCTE - Ontario Council for Technology Education

  • Learn more about SHSM and OYAP programs to promote the skill trades waiting for you in High School!

C2: Google STEM - Science, Technology Engineering, Math

  • Welcome future scientists and explorers! Learn how this company is providing free VIRTUAL experiences right in your classrooms. If you enjoy science, adventure, and exploring new places from around the world then you will definitely want to check out this session!

B3: Cam Dube - Adventurer / Algonquin College

  • Cam is a professor at the Pembroke Campus of Algonquin College in the Outdoor Adventure Programs. Cam’s adventurous passions have given him unique opportunities in his life. He has made an exciting Pathway for himself.

C3: Future Design School

  • Learn how AI and machine learning is changing the world of work everywhere!

D3: Quinn Solar

  • Quinn, a former student from the RCCDSB, shares his journey that started as a young learner at Lourdes, St. Michael’s, and St. Joseph’s High School. Quinn shares how his journey as a highly trained musician led him to a totally different and rewarding career.
